Murfeesboro, Tennessee

A delightful couple approached us to design and decorate their elegant 10,000-square-foot home near Nashville. They had a pre-existing floor plan but requested revisions, including a redesign of the kitchen and the addition of classical trim details. To achieve this, I partnered with James Dunn of Vintage Millworks in Nashville, crafting bespoke millwork to add timeless elegance throughout the home.

The dining room was inspired by an Irish manor house, combining a scenic mural wallcovering with ornate moldings and a crystal chandelier. This delicate balance of refinement and pastoral charm set the tone for the entire home. Across the hall, the gentleman’s study was richly painted in peacock blue, with a ceiling papered in 24-karat gold leaf. To keep the space classic rather than trendy, I avoided lacquer finishes, opting instead for plush wool paisley fabrics for the draperies, chairs, and pillows, creating an inviting, traditional English ambiance.

The open-plan kitchen and living room were designed with the family’s three boys in mind. The kitchen featured three islands, including one set into a box bay window styled to resemble furniture. The great room’s focal point was a grand stone fireplace with a cast limestone mantel and an antique English carved crest, blending dark walnut with stone to create texture and depth. Wool, cotton, and leather textiles layered the space, alongside a monumental Oushak rug in charcoal, tobacco, and blue.

The master suite evoked the grandeur of an Italian villa, with an arched colonnade and modern blonde wood veneer walls. The guest suite, a striking contrast, featured juniper green walls, light fabrics, and a custom nine-foot bed in English wool, achieving a perfect balance of grandeur and coziness.

“Eric brought our vision to life in ways we couldn’t have imagined. His attention to detail and ability to blend functionality with stunning design made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. From concept to completion, every step reflected his professionalism and creativity. We have a home that feels uniquely ours, and we couldn’t be happier!”
