Columbia, Tennessee
After twenty-five years in interior design, I’m privileged to have many loyal clients, including a couple for whom I’ve designed over five homes. Our eighteen-year collaboration has fostered a deep trust, allowing me creative freedom on their latest project—a new farmhouse on their Columbia, Tennessee farm.
MORE DETAILS
Previously, we designed a Colonial-style guest house on their property, named Sugar Moon Ridge, near a ridge overlooking a valley. With the addition of a barn, it was time to create their main house, combining farmhouse charm with modern elements.
The foyer sets the tone with white molding and raw white oak veneer panels, complementing the couple’s modern artwork and hinting at contemporary features throughout the home. The dining room, one of my favorites, features dark aqua grass cloth wallpaper that contrasts with the light furniture. I designed a floor-to-ceiling dish rack to display the client’s extensive china collection, enhanced by a floral fabric print and an iron and crystal chandelier.
The great room, open to the foyer and kitchen, uses large posts to create a sense of separation and depth, encouraging exploration. The blue and aqua color scheme from the dining room continues into this space.
The kitchen balances beauty and function with a stylish white “public” area featuring dramatic quartzite countertops and a practical dark navy “working” kitchen, catering to the client’s cooking needs.
Adjacent to the kitchen, the cozy den offers a snug-like retreat with large furnishings and heavy window treatments. The south wing houses the owner’s suite, with warm gray walls, turquoise fabrics, and an Asian-inspired bathroom featuring peony and bamboo motifs. The solarium, designed for the client’s love of plants, features large-format tile floors and no window treatments, connecting seamlessly to the pool area.
This farmhouse, developed over five years, blends rural elegance with modern sophistication, reflecting the homeowners’ tastes while providing a stylish retreat.

“Eric’s designs transcend fleeting trends, creating spaces that feel timeless and invite admiration from everyone who steps through my door.”
