Eric Ross and Christine Barker turned on the drama in the stairwell area, pairing navy grass cloth walls with crisp, white-painted stair balusters and wainscoting. Adding touches of glamour are on-trend brass accents, such as a large-scale lantern pendant, a tall wall mirror, X-shape bench bases, and nailhead trim on closet doors that were painted peacock blue.
“We wanted the space to be traditional and appropriate for the age of the house but also to have a freshness,” Ross says. “We love chinoiserie, which is traditional, but the navy colorway was very fresh combined with the citrine, peacock blue, and gray.”
