Chairs

Chairs are like friends – you need a few good ones.  They also need to look good, and they need to look inviting. (The chairs, not your friends).

Chairs in a room, for interior design in Nashville, TN call Eric Ross Interiors today.

There are a few different types of chairs.  A Slipper chair is one without arms.  I find these very comfortable as it allows the arms and hands to fall naturally into one’s lap without worrying about the arms of the chair being the wrong height for someone’s body.

Eric Ross provides interior design in Nashville, TN, as a top interior designer Eric has designed and decorated many homes in Nashville and beyond.

A Bergère chair is the more masculine type of arm chair, where the arms are solid.  The feminine version is called a Fauteuil chair where, traditionally, the space under the arm rest was left open to allow room for a lady’s skirts to fit under her person.

If you have come to know me in any way, you are already aware of my unnatural affinity for small chairs.  I love them.  I can’t help it!  They’re both so chic and so versatile!

Small chairs can act as space savers in a room that can look beautiful in a small dead space, and then be called upon when needed for extra seating.  Use one as an end table; put a small stack of three books and a coaster on top and Voila! You’ve got somewhere to put your drink.

It’s also important to keep a few decent seating options in storage for when you have guests – and I’m NOT talking folding chairs!  There is no charm in a folding chair and I hate hate hate them.  You’ve worked hard to make your room beautiful, and then you throw a folding chair in it?  It’s like putting on a ballgown and then wearing rubber boots!  They are not allowed. Clear?

All this brought to you courtesy of moi, and a little thing I call redemptive design.
