Interior design by Nashville interior designer, Eric Ross of Eric Ross Interiors, the Signature of an Interior Designer.Nothing says ,“Wow, you hired a Nashville interior designer!” like a window treatment.  After all the years I’ve been designing interiors, I never cease to be amazed and almost breathless by a well designed window treatment.

In my humble opinion, a window should never be undressed.  I would be hard-pressed to think of an application where a window treatment would not elevate the humble window to a position of esteem and applause.  In a bedroom, they reinforce that cocooning effect that makes for a romantic getaway.  In a dining room, they create intimacy both visually and audibly by catching light and reducing echo.  And, of course, in a bathroom they aid in privacy as well as giving an opportunity to create visual interest in a very hard landscape of tile, cabinetry and tubs.

Eliminating the window treatment from the interior design budget is tempting.  It’s one line item on the proposal that can easily be scratched off to help bring the budget down without having to rethink the entire design.  However, I always recommend trimming the budget in other areas in order to keep the window treatment.  The window treatment is the interior designer’s masterstroke that finishes the room, elevating it from pretty to extraordinary.
